Up to 3 seconds of the boot time can by saved by switching off the PXE (Preboot Execution Environment) Menu of the Ethernet controller. The PXE settings are not stored in the BIOS image nor in the CMOS settings. It is stored in a separate EEPROM that contains also the MAC address of the Ethernet controller. This document describes how to disable the displaying of the configuration message. This setting can not be done inside of the PXE configuration menu, a special tool is needed. Please contact our support team (robin@toradex.com). You will get then a zip folder with the tool and 4 batch files. In order to use the tool, you have to boot a DOS or Free DOS and run one of the batch files.
Important: Do not modify the batch files. Wrong Ethernet PXE settings could lead to non booting module.
This batch file resets the PXE configuration to the Toradex default values. The configuration message is shown 3 seconds during the booting. The boot order is set to PnP/BEV(BBS). This means the network boot priority is according to the setting in the BIOS.
This batch file switches off the displaying of the configuration message and boots from the device selected in the BIOS. It will boot from network only if no boot device is selected in the BIOS. Use this setting if network booting is not required. It is the setting with the fastest booting time.
